The SLAM! Programme
SLAM! is about unleashing the potential of individuals and groups. It is about offering responsibility and thus offering the opportunity for sustainable solutions, whether at school, university, the workplace, the third sector, the public sector or the private sector. The basis of SLAM! is peer-coaching......but it is much more than peer-mentoring.
- SLAM! is an innovative, person centred coaching programme that places role modelling at the centre of the development of leadership and transferable skills within organisations of all sizes.
- The programme integrates involvement by pupils, staff, employees and the potential use of businesses to contribute significantly to challenging learners to achieve, raising aspirations and horizons and constructing a platform on which designated learners/leaders/coaches can contribute to the learning of their peers.
- The SLAM! Programme develops a range of transferable skills, study skills and experiences (including leadership, motivation, verbal and written communication, time-management & team-working) and the confidence and understanding to use the skills. SLAM! both supports participants to improve academically and technically and to increase their employability prospects and value, and prospects of Further and Higher Education entry.
- The peer-coaches will develop, deliver, and evaluate activities and learning sessions to other participants throughout the year and so be able to reinvest and re-enforce their own learning and skills back into the community and allows the peer-coaches to develop their creativity as well as actually use their leadership and transferable skills in a 'live' but supported environment which gives them invaluable educational, employment and enterprise experiences.
