We believe that our work, as consultants and advisers to undergraduates, postgraduates and the wider university community can only effectively be done within the context of a relationship with a university. Bridging to the Future is a ‘bottom up, not top down’ company, so we don’t lecture and we don’t prejudge. We do however a real passion for innovation and decisive, thoughtful solutions and support, especially in the following areas:
- bridging universities with the local communities so that access from disadvantaged areas is increased in a sustainable and whole community way
- bridging undergraduates into the world of enterprise and entrepreneurism via social enterprises that benefit our communities whilst developing employability skills in a real and credible way
- supporting those from disadvantaged backgrounds not just to access HE but to flourish at university and into graduate employment
Bridging to the Future is able to offer a wide variety of support strategies and programmes to undergraduates and graduates, either to help with current degree work or with an eye to the future and to help develop employability and attractiveness to graduate employers.
BTF works with students in these main areas:
Undergraduates and recent graduates looking to enter the graduate employment market.
- Individual support and coaching, with an emphasis on transferable skills, presentation and communication
- Small group support and coaching to students with an emphasis on transferable skills, presentation and communication
- Group presentation to students
- Seminars by BTTF to students in specific departments
- Written materials
The main areas to be delivered are:
- What is leadership?
- What is management?
- Effective leadership and management
- Working as part of a team
- Developing transferable skills, leadership and management experiences: communication (written, verbal, visual); motivation of self and of others; delegation; planning and pathways; team work; individual effectiveness; setting aims and the strategies to achieve them; evaluation
- The current trends in Graduate Recruitment
- Business English, report writing and analysis.
